These lamp bases were inspired by my Great-Grandfather, Sidney Smith who was a wood turner in the 1930’s. Following the war in 1945, he began a hand carved, wooden lamp and lighting business.
I chose to contemporize the process by turning on the plaster lathe, and slip casting the lamp bases.
